Scoping and Mapping
This document is an example of a highly detailed scoping document Anna designed when working for a large organisation. The courses being designed for this project required consistent delivery across a variety of trainers in a classroom-based environment with no online component.
The spreadsheet is macro-enabled so that estimated content delivery timings could be accurately calculated. Most projects will not require quite this detailed a level of complex planning, however it proved a useful tool for planning such a complicated project with many designers working together. |

This is an example of a design brief that Anna created for an e-learning developer to create. The document is a high-level document that contains all the essential information but does not specify required imagery, interaction or scripting.

Detailed
This is another example of a design brief, but a much more detailed one. In this case, it is the final mockup prior to starting development of the eLearning. SMEs will review the content here to ensure it is accurate and that they generally understand how the elearning is going to look when developed. This kind of document is important when you're working with multiple SMEs and when the development time for eLearning is restricted, but in general it's quite useful to ensure we have accurate information prior to developing in a format that is more time-consuming/expensive to change.
Anna is equally comfortable developing from design briefs such as this or with designing them from source material. As with the previous example, this is a flash file, please enable flash and simply click on the image to advance the pages. |
